It's hard to find good punk bands anymore. Especially good girl band! The Eyeliners is one of them and this is awesome.

The Eyeliners are an American Rock & Roll band, featuring three lovely sisters from Albuquerque, New Mexico, U.S.A. Their undeniable sex appeal matched with their melodic, high energy pure punk sound, is the perfect blend of old school punk with pop. From their first release "Confidential", a declarative raw punk album, to "Here Comes Trouble", their second release, and finally, "Sealed With A Kiss", a more refined sound, blending a punk sound with a pop sensibility, the progression is clear. The Eyeliners' most mature sound came to the pinnacle in their latest release "No Apologies", produced by Kenny Laguna, producer of such bands as Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Kathleen Hanna and Bikini Kill, and many others. Their sound is not the only strength, as their shows are full of energy and fun, and will make a fan out of anyone that has the opportunity to see them live. The Eyeliners are at the definitive moment in their musical maturity, where their songwriting and sound will blow you away. Details

This second album from Karla Bonoff, 1979's "Restless Nights", has her incredible knack for deeply affecting, reflective songs on full display. She does once again go heavy on the love lyrics, but they're terrific love lyrics that are winningly intimate, & dig deep--it doesn't come across as mindless, annoying musings from some teenage girl's diary (even though they do seem extremely personal). They're a lot deeper than that & they are eloquently written. Karla's vocals are simply excellent: expressive, & lending themselves perfectly to the material (imagine a mix of the timbre of Linda Ronstadt with the delivery/ mannerisms of Jackson Browne). Speaking of the material, not only is it excellent lyrically--with rich melodies, masterful use of dynamics, & crisp performances, the songs come together gracefully & organically.

Return of Saturn is an almost defiantly mature record about two things: Stefani's exploration of a troubled romance and her own romantic ideals, plus a serious attempt by the group to not only keep new wave alive, but to make that adolescent music relevant to an older audience. It's a high concept, but Return of Saturn is filled with satisfying contradictions. It's melodic, but deceptively complex; it can seem frothy, but it's never frivolous. No Doubt's desire to expand the emotional template of new wave is the perfect match for Stefani's themes -- she may be writing about love, but she's not writing adolescent love songs. Fragments of her teenaged romantic fantasies remain, but she's writing as a woman in her late 20s. She's tired of being another "ex-girlfriend" -- she wants to fall in love, get married, and have a family. It's a subject that's surprisingly uncommon in pop music, which would alone make Return of Saturn an interesting album. What makes it a successful one is that the band delivers an aural equivalent of Stefani's lyrical themes.

Little Feat were on Warner Bros Records from 1971's Little Feat through 1990's Representing the Mambo, but for a full decade of those 20 years, the band was inactive. ...these albums have the songs and sensibility that built their legacy, which does include their remarkably successful return in 1988. All the albums are presented as mini-LPs and the set is affordable, making this a very appealing bargain for all kinds of Feat fanatics.

Twenty years after his work on the soundtrack of Jacques Rivette's movie Jeanne la Pucelle, Jordi Savall returns to this powerful subject matter and presents a new set dedicated to the mother figure of the struggle for French independence. The music on Joan of Arc - Battles and Prisons provides the perfect atmosphere for Savall's fresh look this historical icon. Alongside works by composers from the time of Joan of Arc (Guillaume Dufay, Josquin Desprez, Johannes Vincenet, Johannes Cornago, etc.), the set also features compositions and arrangements by Jordi Savall. The biographical program of the set is further illustrated through spoken dialogue. The accompanying 500 page, six language hardbound book is richly illustrated and provides historical perspective as well as texts and translations. The result is an amazingly vivid portrait of a troubled time.

Swedish cult-film starlet Christina Lindberg appears opposite international film star Stellan Skarsgård in director Torgny Wickman's controversial erotic drama. Anita (Lindberg) is a young girl whose troubled childhood and neglectful parents have left her hungering for love. A psychologically unstable nymphet driven to pleasures of the flesh, Anita soon finds a kindred soul in kindly university student Erik (Skarsgård). As Erik and Anita's relationship grows increasingly intimate, the sympathetic student attempts to help his troubled friend work through her many problems. Anita is more than willing to open up to Erik, and upon listening as his new friend recounts all the details of her sordid past it becomes increasingly obvious to Erik that the only way for Anita to conquer her nymphomania is to experience a genuine orgasm. Vocal Jazz / Swing

"The First Lady of Song," Ella Fitzgerald was arguably the finest female jazz singer of all time (although some may vote for Sarah Vaughan or Billie Holiday). Blessed with a beautiful voice and a wide range, Fitzgerald could outswing anyone, was a brilliant scat singer, and had near-perfect elocution; one could always understand the words she sang...
