British Secret Projects: Hypersonics, Ramjets & Missiles
Midland Publishing | 2007 | ISBN: 1857802586 | English | 211 Pages | PDF | 108 MB

The book includes the origins of the British colour codes systems used when Cold War deception was at its height, a listing of all the project names coined, a glossary and details of some of the more interesting and even bizarre projects which were considered at this time such as the Green Janet/Blue Bishop portable nuclear power station. This is a fascinating glimpse of some of the leading-edge technology which the British miliary research establishment was working on at this time and puts these hitherto little-known projects into their historical and political context.

Tony Buttler - British Secret Projects : Jet Fighters Since 1950
Midland | 2000 | ISBN: 1857800958 | 178 pages | PDF | 127.56 MB

A large number of fighter projects have been drawn by British companies over the last fifty years, but very few have turned into hardware, and very little has been published about these fascinating "might-have-beens." This book makes extensive use of previously unpublished, primary-source material-much recently declassified. It gives an insight into a secret world where the public has had little idea of what was going on, while at the same time presenting a coherent nationwide picture of fighter development and evolution. Particular emphasis is placed on tender design competitions and some of the events that led to certain aircraft either being canceled or produced. Some of the many and varied types included are the Hawker P.1103/P.1136/P.1121 series, and the Fairey "Delta III". The book includes many illustrations, plus specially commissioned renditions of "might-have-been" types in contemporary markings. For military history enthusiasts. Details

British Secret Projects: Fighters & Bombers 1935-1950
Midland Publishing | 2004 | ISBN: 1857801792 | English | 241 Pages | PDF | 127,4 MB

This completes a trilogy that covers the design and development of British fighters and bombers basically from the end of the biplane to the present day. This new volume will again place the emphasis on unbuilt designs that competed with those that flew and it covers the aircraft influenced by World War 2 - projects that were prepared from the mid-1930s in the knowledge that war was coming through to some which appeared after the war was over. Tony Buttler - British Secret Projects : Jet Bombers Since 1949
Midland | 2003 | ISBN: 185780130X | 225 pages | PDF | 102.98 MB

This long awaited title is a natural successor to the author's successful volume on fighters. The design and development of the British bomber since World War II is covered in similar depth and again the emphasis is placed on the tender design competitions between projects from different companies. Extensive reference has been made to recently- declassified archives in national and industry collections, which allows many little known projects to be brought together within a full narrative of bomber development. The design backgrounds to the V-Bomber program, Canberra, Buccaneer, Avro 730, TSR.2, Harrier, Jaguar and Tornado are revealed in more detail than has probably ever been published, but attention is also given to anti-submarine types and stillborn programs such as the RAF's first requirement for a low level bomber and the AFVG. The book includes many previously unpublished illustrations plus specially commissioned renditions of might-have-been types in contemporary markings. Keith Woodcock's cover painting shows how the Avro 698 might have looked in service had it not been turned into the famous Vulcan. Details

Soviet Secret Projects: Bombers Since 1945
Midland Publishing | 2004 | ISBN: 1857801946 | English | 179 Pages | PDF | 100 MB

One of the great success stories of aviation publishing in recent years has been Midland's 'Secret Projects' series. Starting with three volumes of Luftwaffe Secret Projects and following on with the British Secret Projects series, we now turn to the what the Soviets were getting up. The aviation industry of the former Soviet Union has produced many outstanding military aircraft. However, there were many other proposed projects for fighters and bombers that never saw the light of day and almost all of them are completely unknown in the West. The end of the Cold War has given the opportunity for researchers in Russia to uncover these projects for the first time. Details
