Genre: Symphonic Prog Rock | Country: USA | Label: Shroom Productions | SP-96001

This is Shroom Productions best release so far. HANDS were an American band, founded by members from PRISM, who were active between 1977 and 1980. They never released an album back then, but this CD is put together with material from that period. The sound quality is overall very good with a few exceptions. - Their music is a mix between medieval music and progressive rock, mostly instrumental. HANDS have strong compositions and intriguing arrangements and they're reminiscent to GENTLE GIANT, JETHRO TULL, KING CRIMSON, MIRTHRANDIR, PREMIATA FORNERIA MARCONI, and YES.

Dixie Dregs - Free Fall (1977)
EAC 0.99pb4 | FLAC tracks level 8 | Cue+Log+M3U+MD5 | Full Scans 300dpi | 294MB + 5% Recovery
Genre: Fusion, Jazz-Rock

Free Fall was the Dixie Dregs first record, released in 1977. Overall, many critics consider this album one of the band's best efforts. Free Fall features a good mix of southern rock, bluegrass and jazz styles but sounds more jazz oriented and funky than other Dixie Dregs recordings. "Refried Funky Chicken" is just that--funky--as guitarist/songwriter Steve Morse makes use of a well-oiled wah-wah pedel throughout the tune. "Holiday" has very fluid, rolling feel with drummer Rod Morgenstein and bassist Andy West providing a very tight rhythm backing. "Moe Down" showcases the southern/pickin' sound that the Dregs practically patented. The CD closes with the quiet and fluid "Northern Lights". For a first album, this one is a killer, one of the Dixie Dregs best.

Blues / Piano Blues / Acoustic New Orleans Blues / R&B

This aptly named disc showcases James Booker's piano playing; his stretches and runs are breathtaking in their fluidity. This disc (along with its Rounder partner, Resurrection of the Bayou Maharajah) was culled from some 60 or so hours of tapes that John Parsons recorded at the Maple Leaf Bar from 1977 to 1982. The main difference in the music on the two discs is that this one is purely instrumental.

Label: Funky Town Grooves / EMI Music Special Markets (USA) | Released: 2010, November

Released by Funky Town Grooves in 2010 through EMI, this release combines the third and fourth albums by Brass Construction, which were originally issued, respectively, in 1977 and 1978. They were not among the band's best releases, but they did generate four charting singles, namely the Top 20 R&B hit "L-O-V-E-U," as well as "Celebrate," "Help Yourself," and "Get Up." There's a handful of solid album cuts, the best of which is the earlier album's "Top of the World," a jam that contains a wild guitar solo and an incredible breakdown. Casual fans should seek out either The Best of Brass Construction: Movin' & Changin' or Classic Masters.

Jethro Tull was a unique phenomenon in popular music history. Their mix of hard rock; folk melodies; blues licks; surreal, impossibly dense lyrics; and overall profundity defied easy analysis, but that didn't dissuade fans from giving them 11 gold and five platinum albums...
