MANDALABAND is the third reincarnation of an extraordinary progressive rock band with a long history. The first and original album 'MANDALABAND' was released by Chrysalis in 1975 and created quite a stir with its bombastic 'Om Mani Padme Hum' - a four-movement work for rock band and choir, the lyrics of which form the basis of the Tibetan national anthem. ... Chrysalis then asked David to write and produce a second Mandalaband album, making use of all the singers and fellow musicians he had befriended during his time as engineer and producer during the 70s. The result was 'THE EYE OF WENDOR' - a concept album based on a Tolkienesque fantasy set in a world of warlocks, witches, battling heroes, and a magical gemstone of supernatural power.

Terje Rypdal's recordings offer the listener an astounding array of styles - ranging from straight-ahead jazz played in small-combo settings to solo outings to mind-bending improvisations to orchestral compositions, and all points in between. His composition and playing and arranging are always tasteful and excellent, and the musicians he selects to execute his works are consistently first-rate. BLUE is no exception, falling into a trio of albums featuring roughly the same personnel, The Chasers - Terje on electric guitar (also adding some keyboard touches on this recordings), Bjørn Kjellemyr on electric and acoustic basses, and Audun Kleive on drums and percussion.

On CHANTS OF INDIA, Ravi Shankar's music mixes both Western and Eastern styles to evoke the beauty of the collective human experience. We hear an Indian chorus of singers and a western chorus of singers working in synergy, and stringed instruments (violins, cellos, etc.) mixed in with Indian instruments such as the sitar, tanpura, and others.

George Harrison plays a little guitar and percussion as well as producing the album. One of Shankar's most experimental and daring projects, CHANTS OF INDIA is an impressive effort. The use of mantras adds power and passion to the already hypnotic compositions.

After a stint with Gong as their trippy, hippy, new agey guitar guru of cosmically and extremely raga-esque trance rock and improv heaven, Steve Hillage went solo. He branched out to carry his own version of the Gong gospel of personal freedom via his special blend of cosmic brotherhood, Eastern religion, new age, pyramids, ley lines, crystals, and some ferocious jazz fusion and progressive rock guitar blended with space rock synths. Hillage reinterprets some well-known tunes by other artists like Donovan and George Harrison here as well as penning some of his more memorable sonic treats. Details

Heavy psych classic with warm dusty basement sound with HEAVY bass and great acid psych guitar work of premium quality. An extremely rare and previously unreleased 1969/1970 heavy psychedelic album . It was recorded in the Cavern Sound Studio, Missouri. The opening cut, End Of The Page, has a lovely guitar intro and the other highlight is the lengthy Let's Go To The Sea, which features some great Hendrix' psychedelic guitar work. The remainder of the album comprises harder edged rock cuts, their own interpretation of Stormy Monday and Hooked, which is the best moment on the album vocally. Worth checking out. The band hailed from the Kansas/Missouri area.

La Confrérie Des Fous was created in 1979 by Laurent Vercambre and common for groups towards the end of the 1970's, their shows consisted of a mix of theater, revue, slapstick and comedy, as well as original music with, just to mention a few, elements of both Rhythm and Blues and Folk. Appearing on stage with as many as 8 people - 12 musicians are to be heard on their only album - the group combined an eclectic mix of music and performance with components found in the medieval carnival-culture. They use violin, hurdy gurdy, viola, dulcimer, and synths to create an almost circus feel.
