If you were challenged to name five rock albums that epitomized the '70s, Frampton Comes Alive! should probably top the list. Former Humble Pie guitarist Peter Frampton recorded a few perfectly fine albums with his band Frampton's Camel, but it wasn't until some of those tracks were recorded at a live performance in San Francisco and released as Frampton Comes Alive! that he became a household name. Buoyant pop, sentimental ballads, arena rock--this album has it all. The double-LP package set sales records and contained three bona fide radio hits--"Baby, I Love Your Way," "Show Me the Way," and "Do You Feel Like We Do?" This 25th-anniversary remastered package features three previously unreleased tracks from the source shows, plus an additional selection recorded at the time as a radio promo. Details

It's easy and natural to confuse this three-disc audio package with the similarly titled DVD/Blu-Ray that was released simultaneously with the same cover art, especially since the song selection is nearly identical. But the CD set is a slightly different animal since it grabs what Frampton thinks are the best performances of the material played from various gigs on his year-long tour from 2011-2012.

Following his Grammy Award-winning instrumental album, 2006's Fingerprints, Peter Frampton returns with Thank You Mr. Churchill (A&M/New Door/UMe), his most personal collection to date. The 11-song set, co-produced and co-engineered by Frampton, features the legendary guitarist at his most incisive lyrically as he tackles the battles that wage within us and the outside forces that rage around us. His searing guitar work flows over every song, setting the mood. "This album is very autobiographical," Frampton says. "It starts with my birth, which I thank Mr. Churchill for bringing my father back from the Second World War."

Peter Frampton - Acoustic Classics (2016)
Rock, Acoustic, Guitar | MP3 CBR 320 kbps | 00:47:04 | 107 MB
Label: Phenix Phonograph | Release Year: 2016

A rather neat little four-track CD consisting of one acoustic band track and three solo acoustic live and studio recordings by Frampton, issued in Japan in conjunction with the release of the 1994 album Peter Frampton. The band track "You Can Be Sure" isn't very impressive, but the classic cuts, especially "Baby I Love Your Way," shows a darkening of the voice, which improves his singing. None of the numbers, however, show any loss of the dexterous and passionate guitar skills that got Frampton into gigs with George Harrison and John Entwistle in their respective primes. The sound is first-rate, and it all makes you wonder why Frampton has never done a complete "unplugged" album. Details
