EKSEPTION is a Dutch band that was famous during the late sixties/early seventies for the way it combined themes from classical composers with contemporary rock and jazz in a blend of dominating, virtuoso keys and trumpet plus sax(es). The story of EKSEPTION as we know it begins when they won the first prize at the Loosdrecht Jazz Festival in 1968, and they were rewarded with a record contract with Philips.

In 1958 the school band The Jokers is formed in Haarlem. Members are Hans Alta (bass), Rein van den Broek (trumpet), Tim Griek (drums, he was the producer for the first Brainbox album, he died in a car crash in 1988) and Huib van Kampen (guitar/saxophone). There is an USUAL opinion on this album:
The CD “Live in Germany” is best avoided, it’s a registration of a concert of EKSEPTION in the nineties, but it does not at all reflect the energy of the band used to have on stage.

Dutch Trio (keyboards, bass & drums) led by ex-Ekseption keyboards player Rick Van Der Linden, Trace was considered as the most famous super-group of its country. Its music includes virtuoso, researched, complicated, ever evolving themes, full of breaks and instrumental developments where the keyboards player could show his talent on Hammond organ, synthesizers, harpsichord, piano and Mellotron. By the profusion of its themes and the numerous melodies which compose it, Trace's music is close to ELP and Yes. The second album "Birds" (1975) was Golden record at that time...

Häx Cel from Hanover existed between the end of 1971 and the autumn of 1972, releasing one LP and one 7-single on Dizzy Records, both of which have so far been hardly known even among collectors. Many fans of a fusion between classical music and progressive rock will appreciate this effort. We are not dealing with a cheap Ekseption or Renaissance clone but rather with very creative music which is convincing even without the use of a guitar. Zwai features a live recording of their last gig on October 29th, 1972. The two tracks of their single, Albinoni and Difference, are included as bonus tracks on the CD, which therefore features Häx Cel’s complete works...

A hard Hammond-driven prog quintet from Speyer (upper middle German Rhine river south of Mannheim), emanating from the ruins of 60's formation The Screamers and having recorded only one studio album. This is a Spanish quartet from Barcelona featuring Manuel Camp (piano and keyboards), Jordi Camp (bass), Santi Arisa (drums) and Marti Brunet (electric guitars and synthesizers). In the first half of the Seventies FUSIOON released three albums entitled "Fusioon I" (1972), "Fusioon II" (1974) and "Minorisa" (1975).The first album FUSIOON contains arrangements from 'traditionals'.
