Motorhead - Orgasmatron (1986)

On the surface, Motörhead appear to be trying something new with Orgasmatron, bringing in producer Bill Laswell to put a slightly different slant on their signature sound. Laswell does beef up the mix with added sonic detail, which works to particularly good effect on the title track -- the densely layered production helps transform the song and its simple riff into a chugging psychedelic noise-fest. Motörhead - Live At Brixton '87
WV+CUE+LOG or mp3 320 | Covers | 354 or 115 MB

This is the recording of the show at Brixton Academy on 23rd December 1987. It was one of the shows that were recorded for a new live album. Instead the show at the Rock of Giants festival in Finland was chosen and this recording was shelved for six years before it was released by Roadrunner for the first time in 1994 as "Live At Brixton" (Not to be confused with "Boneshaker: Live At Brixton Academy" - the latter an audio-visual documentation of Motorhead's 25th anniversary concert that took place at the same venue in 2000). "Live At Brixton" shows once again, that the Motormachine is never more brutal than when it's in the live environment. Details

I got rock 'n' roll, to save me from the gold
And if that's all there is, it ain't so bad

Motörhead, is a long-lived and iconic British heavy metal band formed in 1975 by former roadie for Jimi Hendrix, bassist, singer and songwriter Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister. They are widely recognized as progenitors of thrash & speed metal, a fusion of heavy metal and what was soon to become hardcore punk. Consequently they influenced countless rock, punk rock, and heavy metal bands that followed. Usually a power trio, Motörhead had particular success in the early 1980s with several successful singles in the UK Top 40 chart. The albums Overkill, its follow on, Bomber, Ace of Spades, and particularly No Sleep ‘til Hammersmith, cemented Motörhead’s reputation as one of Britain’s foremost heavy metal groups. While Motörhead are typically classified as heavy metal, speed metal or thrash metal (and often regarded as a foundational influence on the latter two styles); Lemmy dislikes such labels, preferring to describe the band’s music simply as “Rock and Roll”...
